Check in a guest - start to finish

The full flow from a guest arriving at the door to the payment being closed — step by step.

This article is a learning path for new floor staff. It walks through every step from a guest arriving to the table being cleared and ready for the next booking. For specific actions (check in, edit, payment), see the focused articles.

The full flow

1. Guest arrives. Greet them and check the Tebi App › Reservations for their name or booking time.

2. Check them in. Tap the reservation → Check in. Confirm or change their table assignment. The table is now seated.

3. Open the sale. From the seated reservation, tap Open sale. This creates a sale on the table.

4. During service. Take orders by adding items to the sale. Apply modifiers, prep notes, and coursing. Items fire to prep stations automatically per your setup.

5. Payment. When the guest is ready to pay, tap Pay. Choose split, full, or merge with another table. Process the payment on a terminal, manually, or via QR.

6. Close the sale. The table clears and the reservation moves to Completed.

7. Review email (automatic). Tebi sends the guest a review request after their visit — if you've enabled it in Communication settings.

Note: If you move the sale to a table that already has an upcoming reservation, Tebi flags the conflict and the timeline sidebar opens with options to resolve it. See Edit a reservation › Resolve conflicts on the timeline for the full flow.

Tip: For walk-ins, start at step 3 (open the sale). The walk-in flow created the table; the rest is the same.
