Modifiers let guests customize an order, like oat milk, no sugar, or an extra shot, without your team writing it on a napkin.
Adding a modifier as a product
If a modifier costs extra, it needs to exist as a product first. Add it just like any other product. For example, add oat milk as a product before setting it up as a modifier.
Creating a modifier group
Go to Modifier Groups. Select Add a Modifier Group, name it, and set it to Available so it shows up while ordering.
Choose the modifier type:
Notes are free text, for things like allergies, spice level, or how a steak is cooked.
Products can cost extra, like the oat milk you just added.
Choose Products here, since this group charges extra and needs to track oat milk in your stock and reporting.
Search for the product you just added and select it. That's what guests and your team will see as the option.
Applying the modifier group
You can apply the modifier group to multiple items at once, by assigning it to products with a specific tag, like Drinks or Coffee.
Customizing how the modifier appears in a sale
You can decide how the modifier is added to a sale:
By editing the product directly
With a pop-up, which can require a modifier choice or leave it optional
A guest usually picks one milk. If you have a topping list instead, turn on Allow multiple selections so guests can add more than one, like whipped cream and caramel together.
You can also turn on Select first option by default. Use this for your most common choice, to save a tap during a rush.
