Set up Tebi for your restaurant
This guide walks you through setting up Tebi specifically for restaurant service.
Before you start: Complete the onboarding steps first:
Create a Tebi account for your restaurant.
Set up Tebi Payments to process card payments.
Sign in to Tebi
Sign in to the Back Office, the Tebi App, and on your terminals.
Set up your prep stations and coursing
A prep station is any place in your restaurant where products are prepared — kitchen, bar, coffee counter. Add prep stations in the Back Office under Settings > Prep Stations.
Choose between a digital prep station (screen-based) or configure a printer to print prep order tickets.
Add courses (Starters, Mains, Desserts) and choose your course-firing method: Parallel to send all courses at once, or Manual to fire each course when ready.
You can assign a prep station and course to each product when you create it.
Create your product list
Add your products in the Back Office manually or by importing a product list.
Add tags to organise products into groups on the Sale Screen — for example, 'Beer', 'Mains', or 'Sides'. A product can have multiple tags.
Add reporting categories to track sales data by category in the Dashboard. A product can only have one reporting category.
Add modifiers to your products
Add modifiers to customise orders — milk types for coffees, sauce options for dishes, or dietary preference notes. Modifiers are set up in the Back Office.
Example: For fries with a choice of sauce, create separate products for each sauce (mayonnaise, ketchup, truffle mayo), then create a modifier group 'Sauces' and assign it to fries and any other products that use it.
For allergen modifiers (no extra cost), use a note modifier group — for example, 'Dietary preferences' with options like gluten-free, vegan, or nut-free.
Add products to the sales screen
Set up the Sale Screen so staff can quickly select products during service. You can add tabs (Views) like 'Dinner' and 'Drinks', group products by tag, and assign colours.
Set up a floor plan
If you use table seating, set up a floor plan in the Back Office under Settings > Floor Plan.
You can create it two ways:
Still image — upload a photo of your layout.
Customisable — draw your own floor plan. Use one of our templates as a starting point.
Within the floor plan you can add:
Tables — set minimum and maximum guest counts, and mark which are reservable.
Areas — affect reservation options and floor plan views in the Tebi App.
Table groups — combine tables for larger groups in reservations.
Set up reservations
To accept online and phone bookings:
Create a service — what guests are booking (a lunch service, a dinner, a private event).
Create an availability schedule — when the service is open for bookings.
Set pacing to limit how many groups arrive at the same time.
Use day limits to override availability for specific days.
Set up your reservation widget to take bookings from your website.
See the Reservations section for the full setup guides.
Go through the Tebi App settings
Most restaurants use service sales mode — orders stay open at the table and can be added to throughout the meal. Go through the rest of the App settings to configure receipt preferences, floor plan display, and prep station printing.
Add users
Give your team access to the Tebi App and assign user roles to control what each person can do. You can add new users through the Back Office or directly in the Tebi App.
Payment methods
Set card as your QuickPay method to speed up payment — staff won't need to select it each time.
Enable QR payments as a backup if your terminal is offline or broken.
Enable cash if you accept it.
Create customer accounts for regulars or business partners who pay by invoice.
Set up the terminal display
Enable tipping under Back Office > Settings > Terminals. You can add up to four options as a percentage or fixed amount.
You can also personalise the customer-facing display with your branding, and lock the screen when a terminal is within reach of guests.
Administration
See the Insights & Reporting section for how to access financial data and generate reports.
