How to do a stock count

Regular stock counts give you an accurate picture of what you actually have on hand versus what your system thinks you have, so you can catch shrinkage, prevent surprise stockouts, and keep your cost and profitability numbers trustworthy.

Stock counts in the Back Office

  • In the Back Office go to Products > Inventory. Here you will see an overview of your inventory. Click ‘Count inventory’ to start a count.

  • Here you will see a list of all products with inventory tracking enabled. Adding a number into the counted field will populate the product with a new stock count.

  • At the top of the count, you will see how far through the count you are and the total variance value.

  • Once the new stock has been added into the count, the variance will be displayed. These values show the amount of stock that is missing per tracked item and the value of waste based on the last purchase price entered.

  • If the counted value has not been edited for an item, the system will keep the stock count as the expected count.

  • If 0 is added in a count, the stock will be counted as 0.

  • If you only adjust the count for 7/23 tracked items, the stock will only update for items with a new count added.

  • NOTE: The stock count loads in the browser, refreshing the page will loose the count.

  • To submit the new stock count, click ‘Update inventory’.

  • The inventory will be updated for all items with a new count added.
