Setting up a payment terminal

Get your terminal ready to take its first payment.

What's on the terminal

Tebi terminals run on Android and come with the Tebi App pre-installed, so you can create orders, process payments, and print receipts (S1F2 only) all from one device. It can take a few minutes to download after your first setup. If the app still isn't there, contact [email protected] with your Tebi ledger name and the terminal's serial number (on the back, next to S/N).

Set up your terminal

  1. Charge the terminal using the cable and power plug supplied by Adyen. Keep it connected to power while you set it up.

  2. Turn the terminal on — the power button is on the left for S1F2 terminals, and on the right for AMS1 and S1E2L terminals.

  3. Once it starts up, choose Quick Setup > Adyen.

  4. Select the language for the terminal — typically the language your staff and customers use. Changes can take up to three hours to apply.

  5. Connect to the internet. We recommend 4G. If you use Wi-Fi, choose a secure network that guests don't use.

    • To print receipts from the terminal, connect it to the same network as your printers and configure them accordingly.

    • Never connect prep station printers to a terminal — always configure prep stations on a tablet or screen.

  6. The terminal will search for and install updates — this can take up to an hour.

  7. Once updates finish, open Settings > Device info > Software version to check for anything further, and select Install now if an update is available.

Your terminal is now ready to take payments.

Tebi Tip: Want to test the flow with a real payment? The minimum amount is €0.15, to cover transaction costs.

Terminal passcodes

Two passcodes protect access to your terminal: one for Admin & Settings, one for Transactions.

  • Find and change them in the Back Office under Terminals > Overview > Terminal passcodes.

  • Click Show passcodes to view them, or change and click Save passcodes.

Set tipping options

  1. Go to Terminals > Overview > Tipping on terminals in the Back Office and turn on the toggle to enable tipping on payment.

  2. Optionally allow a custom tip amount, so customers can enter their own.

  3. Select up to three tipping options, as percentages (e.g. 5%, 10%, 15%) or fixed amounts (e.g. €0.50, €1, €1.50).

  4. Wait 15 minutes after saving, then restart the terminal for changes to apply.

Tebi Tip: Want to only ask for a tip above a certain sale amount? Go to the Tebi App > Settings > Preferences > Ask for tip on payment terminal, enable it, and set your Sale amount threshold.

View and manage your terminals

In the Tebi App, go to Menu > Settings > Terminals to see all your onboarded terminals. From here you can:

  • Change the order terminals appear in on the Payment screen

  • Rename a terminal

  • Make a terminal visible or invisible — an invisible terminal can't be selected by staff to pay with

Exit the Tebi App on the terminal

Go to Settings > Exit App to return to the terminal's homepage.

Change the terminal language later

Contact [email protected] with your Tebi ledger name, the language you want, and the terminal's serial number (on the back, next to S/N) — support will change it for you.
