Set up Tebi for the first time
This guide covers the full setup journey: creating your account, setting up the Back Office, connecting your hardware, and making your first sale in the Tebi App.
For a guide tailored to your business type, see Set up Tebi for your restaurant, Set up Tebi for your cafe, or Set up Tebi for your bakery.
Step 1: Create your account
Go to the Tebi sign-up page and complete the onboarding flow. You'll enter your business details, enable the features you need, and add your payment details to activate the account.
See Sign up for Tebi for the full walkthrough.
Step 2: Set up Tebi Payments
Set up Tebi Payments so you can process card payments and receive payouts. Adyen verifies your information, which typically takes 1–2 business days. Once approved, you can order payment terminals from the Back Office.
See Set up Tebi Payments in the Payments section.
Step 3: Set up the Back Office
Log in to the Tebi Back Office and set up your business while you wait for hardware:
Add users — give your team access and assign roles to control what each person can do. See User roles and permissions.
Add products — create your product list manually or import from a file. See Add your first product.
Add modifiers — set up customisation options like milk types, portion choices, or dietary notes. See Create a modifier group.
Set up prep stations — configure where orders are sent (kitchen, bar). Add courses if you fire them separately.
Set up a floor plan — required if you use table seating or reservations. See Set up a floor plan.
Set up reservations — if you accept bookings, create services, availability schedules, and your reservation widget. See Set up Services & Schedules for availability.
Set up the sales screen — arrange products, tabs, and colours so staff can work quickly. See Set up the Sale Screen.
Step 4: Set up your hardware
When your hardware arrives:
Sign in to all devices with your Tebi account credentials.
Download and install the Tebi App on tablets and screens.
Connect printers to ethernet and assign them to prep stations.
Turn on payment terminals — an automatic update runs on first boot (allow approximately 1 hour).
Log in to the terminal using the QR code from the Tebi App.
See Complete your go-live checklist for the full hardware setup sequence.
Step 5: Make your first sale
Open a sale from the Tebi App, add products, and process a test payment. This confirms your hardware and settings are working correctly before you open to guests.
See Train your staff on sales for a step-by-step sales walkthrough.
Payment methods
Card payments — set card as your QuickPay method so staff don't have to select it after every sale.
Cash — enable cash as a payment method in Settings > Payment methods.
QR payments — accept card payments even when your terminal is offline or unavailable.
Tap to Pay — accept contactless payments on iPhone or Android. Additional transaction costs apply.
Customer accounts — create accounts for regulars or business partners who pay on invoice.
Terminal display
Enable tipping in the Back Office under Settings > Terminals. You can add up to four tipping options as a percentage or fixed amount.
You can also set up a customer-facing display to show your branding and prevent access to the Tebi App on counter-facing devices.
