How do I close my day?

A step-by-step checklist for closing your business day: closing open sales, registering cash, and reviewing your Day Overview.

Tebi automatically closes your business day (by default at 6:00 AM) and generates your Day Overview. This checklist walks through what you still need to do yourself so everything closes correctly: closing open sales, registering cash, and reviewing the Day Overview.

Step 1: Close all open sales

  1. Go to your sales list and check whether all sales are closed.

  2. For any open tables: close them as paid, close them as an Invoice, or register them as a walkout via Discounts.

Note: Open sales only count toward revenue on the day they are closed, not the day they were opened. Leaving sales open past the end of the business day pushes that revenue to the next Day Overview.

See How can I close an open sale? for the full walkthrough, and When a customer walks out for handling a walkout.

Step 2: Register your cash

Note: Skip this step if you do not accept cash payments.

Register everything that happened with cash in the order below. If you skip a step or register out of order, your cash difference on the Day Overview won't add up correctly.

  1. Cash expenses and cash movements. Took cash out of the register for supplies or groceries? Go to Remove > Reason > Expense.

  2. Paying out cash tips. Only needed if you pay out tips in cash — skip this if you don't. Go to Remove > Reason > Cash tips payout, enter the amount, and tap Remove Cash. If your current total goes negative, add money first (see below).

  3. Count the cash. Count per denomination, or enter the total amount. Tebi compares this against the expected amount. If it matches, confirm it. If there's a difference, either confirm the difference or book it as revenue that cannot be collected.

  4. Withdraw or add. Withdraw cash payments received via Remove > Reason > Withdraw, or add money to correct your opening float. Your closing balance automatically becomes the next day's opening amount.

Tip: You can add money to the drawer by withdrawing cash from a card payment, or from another cash source.

See Using Cash Management and Reports on Cash for more on how cash is tracked in Tebi.

Step 3: Review your Day Overview

The Day Overview is your daily report on money flow: what you sold, how customers paid, and where any differences came from. Find it in the Tebi App, in the Back Office, or as a printout from the Tebi App. For full reports, go to Back Office > Insights > Report list.

  • Revenue is the total of all sales closed that day.

  • Payments collected is the total collected for today's sales, across all payment methods.

  • Other payments received today is the total of registered payments that are not related to today's revenue (for example, prepayments for a future reservation).

Any gap between what was expected and what was collected shows up as the total difference (card difference + cash difference). With integrated Tebi Payments, the card difference should in principle always be zero — invoices are only cashed out once the payment has actually been received.

Tip: Want more detail per transaction? Log into Adyen Essentials, or go to Back Office > Payments.

See Day overview, what is it? for a full breakdown of every section on the report.
