Setting up the Sales Grid

Set up and customise the sales grid that your staff use to take orders — from the Back Office or directly on a POS device.

What is the Sales Grid?

The Sales Grid is the screen your staff see when taking orders. It contains product tiles, organised into Views (pages), so your team can quickly find and tap what they need. Setting it up well means faster ordering and fewer mistakes.

Before you start, decide how many tiles you want per device. Go to Menu > Settings > Preferences > Sales grid and choose a grid size for each device type.

Note: A sales grid is set up once per device size. It will automatically copy to other devices with the same size. If you use different device types (e.g. tablet and handheld), you will need to create a separate grid for each.

Two ways to set up your grid

You can build and edit your sales grid in two ways:

  • Back Office: manage your grid layout from any browser, whether you're at the venue or not

  • Tebi App: set up the grid directly on the POS device

Both methods let you add, remove, and rearrange product tiles. Changes made in one place are reflected in the other.

Setting up the Sales Grid in the Back Office

Available from Release 1.71. From Release 1.72, available to all merchants with no admin access required.

The Sales Grid Builder in the Back Office lets you create and edit your layout without needing to be at the venue or on a POS device.

What you can do

  • Set up your sales grids

  • Add, delete, and rearrange product tiles

  • Use the auto-generated layout as a starting point — Tebi generates a grid based on your existing product types, which you can then adjust as needed

Where to find it

  1. Log in to the Tebi Back Office.

  2. Navigate to the Sales Grid settings.

  3. Open the grid builder and choose to start from scratch or generate a layout automatically based on your products.

Setting up the Sales Grid in the Tebi App

Enter and exit editing mode

  • In the Tebi App, go to Menu > Sales.

  • Open a sale by tapping the plus button or opening a table on your floor plan.

  • If the sales grid has not been created yet, long press on the grid to enter edit mode.

  • You can also long press the Views bar at the top, or long press any tile on the grid, to enter edit mode.

  • To exit, press Done editing.

Add, edit, and remove Views

Views are the pages that show product tiles within the sales grid.

  • Enter editing mode by long pressing the grid on an empty tile or the Views bar.

  • Rename the first View by tapping it — it will be called "Untitled" the first time.

  • To add a new View, press ⊕ Add view, type a name, and press Done.

  • To rearrange Views, long press a View tab and drag it left or right.

  • To rename a View, tap the View name.

  • To remove a View, press the X on the right of the View name.

Note: Deleting a View removes all products on that page. This cannot be undone.

Add products to a View

  • Enter editing mode.

  • Tap an empty tile showing a sign and select Add a product.

  • Choose a product or bundle (bundles are shown with a stacked-squares icon).

  • Select a colour, optionally add a display name, then press Done.

  • To reposition a tile, long press it and drag it to a new position.

Add groups to a View

Products can also be grouped and shown as a list. This is useful for products that are ordered less frequently, or for fitting more products on smaller screens like handhelds and terminals.

First, add tags to products to organise them into groups. You might create tags by product type (e.g. coffees, sodas, tap beers), by order frequency (e.g. fast movers), or by another category (e.g. upselling).

To add a group:

  • Enter editing mode.

  • Tap an empty tile and select Add a new group.

  • Select the tag(s) you want to filter by.

  • Optionally enter a display name (up to eight characters).

  • Select a colour, then press Done.

  • To reposition, long press the tile and drag it to a new position.

Note: When selecting more than one tag, only products that contain all selected tags will be included in the group.

Remove products, bundles, or groups from a View

  • Enter editing mode.

  • Tap the white X on the tile you want to remove.

Tips for creating your sales grid

  • Favourites first: put your most sold products on the first View, with more specific items on other Views.

  • By menu: create a View for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with items in the same order as your menu. This speeds up ordering.

  • By product type: divide products like wine, spirits, and beers into their own Views for quick access.

Recommended grid sizes

  • Tablet (landscape): 5x5 or 5x6

  • Mobile device: 3x4 or 3x5, depending on screen size

  • Terminals: for Adyen terminals, do not choose a grid larger than 3x5 as it will reduce the features available on screen.
