Using Backup Mode when your internet goes down

Keep taking payments and managing your service even when the internet is unreachable, using Tebi's Backup Mode.

What is Backup Mode?

This feature may not be available to your account. Please contact [email protected] to have it enabled for you.

Backup Mode allows the Tebi App to keep running essential functions even when your internet connection or server is temporarily unreachable. It is designed to keep your service going during outages so you don't have to stop taking orders or payments.

Entering Backup Mode

Tebi will automatically detect when the server is unreachable and show a prompt to switch to Backup Mode. You can also enable it manually:

  • In the Tebi App, open the Menu

  • Go to Diagnostics

  • Tap Turn on Basic mode

What works in Backup Mode

While in Backup Mode, you can:

  • Take payments

  • View and search your products

  • Find customers

  • View today's reservations (read-only)

  • Send tickets to the Prep Station (from a tablet)

Limitations in Backup Mode

Some features are unavailable while offline to prevent data conflicts:

  • Reservations for other days are not accessible (today only, read-only)

  • Auto-pay (SMS) and remote tap-to-pay terminals are disabled

  • The day picker in reservations is disabled

Important: Any changes made while in Backup Mode will be synced back to your account when you reconnect. Do not clear the app's data while in Backup Mode, as unsynced changes will be lost.

Exiting Backup Mode

To exit Backup Mode, tap the Exit Backup Mode button in the app. This will restart the Tebi App and automatically re-sync all your data. The sync usually completes within a few minutes of reconnecting.
