Gift cards in Tebi
What gift cards are
Gift cards let guests buy credit now, to spend with you later.
This guide covers everything you need to start selling and redeeming them.
Turning on gift cards as a payment method
Go to Settings > Payments.
Turn on Gift card.
Select Save.
Creating a gift card product
Go to Products and select Add product.
Give it a name and a sales price. This sets the value of the card.
Under Select type, choose Gift card.
Adding it to your sales grid
Add the gift card product to your sales grid, so your team can sell it in person.
Selling a gift card in person
Select the gift card product and complete the payment like any other sale on the POS.
Once payment goes through, a pop-up shows the gift card code and balance.
Write down the code, or give it to the guest. Gift cards are tied to their code, not a name.
Selling gift cards online
Go to Gift Cards > Settings.
Turn on Sell and redeem gift cards online.
If you take reservation prepayments, also turn on Carry gift card balances from reservations to sales. Any balance added to a reservation gets applied automatically at check-in.
Select Save. Gift cards now appear on your widget.
Note: only gift cards with a fixed price show up online. A gift card with a prompt-for-price option is only sellable in person.
Redeeming a gift card
Open the sale, select Pay, and choose Gift card.
Enter the code, and the balance is deducted automatically.
If the guest redeemed the gift card via the widget on a reservation, the balance is deducted automatically once they check in.
If there isn't enough balance to cover the sale, add another payment method for the remainder.
Checking a gift card balance
Go to Gift cards, in the app or the Back Office.
You'll see every code and its current balance.
Depending on your user role, you can reveal the full code:
In the app, select the three dots.
In the Back Office, select the eye icon.
Reporting
Check your Day report for an overview of gift cards sold and redeemed.
Or check the dedicated Gift card report under Insights.
Invoices
Gift cards can't be added to an invoice.
A gift card is credit a guest buys to use later, not revenue at the time of purchase.
It's always sold as a direct sale instead.
